I say the following as someone who lived under Willard Romney's barely perceptible leadership as governor of the Commonwealth (God save it!): Willard, dude. You're retiring from the Senate. Take it easy. Be a senior during finals week. Prepare for life as a very rich, doting grandpa. Stay out of public life and public controversies, because, frankly, you've never been very good at them. Go in peace, good and occasional public servant. As has been the case with so many things, Willard gets off to a promising start, throwing shade at the Red Tie Brigade of cowards and lackeys who left Capitol Hill to stand vigil in a Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday. |
