America is a machine that runs on oil. It's in our country's blood. The only problem, of course, is that there's only a finite amount of oil and it takes millions of years to form. Oh, and you know, the U.S. purchases oil from private companies and then we help destroy our planet's climate when we burn it for fuel. So, there are a lot of problems, actually. As Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) reminds us in the Landman finale, "Our great-grandparents built a world that runs on this shit. And until it runs on something else, we gotta feed it or the world stops." |

Oh, my. MAGAworld may be coming apart at the seams and I feel like collateral damage, because, somehow, Steve Bannon and I agree on the malevolent influence of Elon Musk, whom we both believe should be sent back to the veldt where he was spawned. "Why do we have South Africans, the most racist people on earth, white South Africans, we have them making any comments at all on what goes on in the United States?" Get 'em, Steve. Attack! |

For me, notebooks are a lifeline. I'm a writer who dreads writing (that's how you know I'm committed), and putting pen to paper has dulled much of the pain that comes from exposing my inner world. I'm a big proponent of specific notebooks for specific needs: one for planning work, one for journaling anxious thoughts, a tiny backpack notebook for traveling. The look and feel of each notebook puts my head in the right space for its chosen musings. |
