For anyone who's serious about music, it's really hard to care about the Grammys. It's a popularity contest designed to create tentpoles for the industry and act as a vehicle to get viewers for an annual television event. Yet, beyond sales numbers (which are dwindling thanks to streaming services), the Grammys are the only quantifiable measure of success in pop music that we have. While a Grammy might not earn someone like Justin Bieber critical respect within the industry, it will get him a shit ton of money. That's why these things do matter.
