Clothes (and Shoes) Under $100 to Get You Through This Broiling Summer

Not to bum you out right now, but this apocalyptic heat wave currently gripping the country doesn't even mark the halfway point of summer. Yep, there are still at least two months of potentially thermometer-busting days yet to come. But don't get too down about it. Sure, the broiling heat may have you fantasizing about a family trip to the depths of Antarctica. And yes, melted asphalt is difficult to scrape off your shoes. But at least you have an excuse to beef up your summer wardrobe. Because nothing keeps you cooler than killer summer style. Figuratively speaking, of course. Literally you'll still be sweating off one-third of your bodyweight. Don't fret though, here's a list of threads for under a C-note to keep your hot-weather look on point. Read More

Eric Andre On the Penis Prank That Almost Got Him Shot and the Return of His Beloved Show

Eric Andre used to be a jazz musician. This may come as a surprise, but the deranged, at times fully demonic comedian behind The Eric Andre Show–who appears as one of the hyenas in the new Lion King this weekend–actually started off studying upright bass at Berklee College of Music. With an education like that, he told me, "You can't do anything. You start playing weddings after you graduate...you're just like, be deep ba deep ba dop..." trailing off into a scat solo that probably gave the folks over at our transcription service a real headache. Non-Alcoholic Beer Is for Everyone Now—Yes, Even You

For a while, the only establishment where I was sure to find non-alcoholic beer was a casino. I still remember my first one. It was 2017, and I was dining in the steakhouse of the Peppermill Casino in Reno, Nevada, one month after celebrating my one-year anniversary of quitting drinking. I'd chosen to give up booze for good on my twenty-third birthday, after acknowledging that my binge-drinking habit was amplifying my depression and anxiety to an unbearable pitch. Swearing off alcohol was hands-down the smartest decision I've ever made, but I nevertheless craved the refreshing sensation of gulping down a cold beer. Read More

Blown Away Is Netflix's Must-Watch Glassblowing Competition of the Summer

Over the weekend, Netflix dropped what might be the most absurdly niche television show in recent memory. In Blown Away, 10 people compete in a glassblowing competition where only one of them can win Best in Blow. (Seriously.) There are giant tools, multiple sources of fire, a special glass refrigerator, several conversations about gender in the workplace, and one fiery feminist who is potentially cosplaying as Edna Mode from The Incredibles. Netflix's Blown Away is the one must-watch reality series of the summer (sorry, Love Island). Read More

These Photos of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing Will Leave You in Awe

Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon on July 20, 1969, as hundreds of millions of people watched from television sets across the world. It remains one of the most astonishing feat in human history—one that, for a time at least, united a deeply divided country. Fifty years (and leaps and bounds in technological advances) later, it still boggles the mind that humans stepped foot on the moon, thrusting themselves into the unknown where their safety was far from certain. Look, for instance, at the face of Aldrin (below) in the moments before he left the lunar landing module. There's wide-eye wonder, fear, and confidence in his eyes. As all these photos show, it was a stunning human achievement. Read More
