Found: The Single Dumbest Man in America

This man appeared on Chris Cuomo's CNN show last night and, while embarrassing himself completely, offered a reminder that not everyone is seeking a solution to this pandemic.

What Can This Aggressively Dumb Guy Tell Us About America's Vaccine Drive?

One rule of thumb is that if you're a TV Civilian—someone outside the tiny number of people with experience on television—you may want to avoid being interviewed by a seasoned TV Veteran on their home turf. Maybe there's a carveout for man-on-the-street local news interviews, particularly for people who just innately have the kind of presence that pops on camera. But usually, you probably want to avoid it, particularly if you're as dumb as Tony Roman. It feels a little cruel to go after the Huntington Beach, California restaurant owner. This is not a public figure or a TV Guy, granted. But he is being a large asshole right now, considering he's been requiring customers to be unvaccinated, or at least making a lot of noise about doing so, if they want to dine in. (Don't think too hard about how anyone could provide proof they haven't been vaccinated.) Roman chose to go on Chris Cuomo's CNN program, after all, and to make a horse's ass of himself on television. Read More

Why We Love Alex Mill's Light-as-Air, Tough-as-Nails Shorts

Outdoors-inspired gear is ascendent right now, but perhaps nowhere is that more evident than in the world of shorts. You want something that's as breathable as it is rugged, and easy to move in, to boot. Something you could conceivably throw in a rucksack without noticing the extra weight. Something you could wear to scramble over a couple boulders on the way up a mountain—even if the furthest afield you'll actually be going is the bar down the block. Something like Alex Mill's pull-on shorts, made from Italian ripstop fabric that's both tough as nails and light as air. Read More

The Best Stuff to Buy From Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale While You Still Can

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is beloved by fans, first and foremost, because it's a kind of reverse approach to marking things down. Instead of offering discounts on old, out-of-season stock, the team at Nordstrom knocks a very respectable percentage off a bunch of brand-new merchandise. For the guys who can't wait to Really Start Dressin', that translates to a golden opportunity to stock up on fall-friendly pieces like jackets, overcoats, jeans, and boots. For the people who only care about making sure they're not naked and their clothes aren't falling apart when they step outside, it's the perfect time to stock up on basics like socks, underwear, tees, and everything else that doesn't necessarily get better with age. And, needless to say, the entire spectrum of shopping personalities between these two extremes is likely to find some discounted new arrival that piques some interest or raises an eyebrow (in a good way). 14 Business Casual Shoes That Work Just as Well Outside the Office

The term "business casual" is decidedly tricky. What does business casual actually mean? What are the parameters? Here's the CliffsNotes version: business, but not too business, and casual, but not too casual. You still want to present yourself authoritatively, but you also don't want to be the sole overdresser in the group. The choice of shoes, in particular, is the perfect way to meander between these two points. If you prefer the formality of a suit, pair it with a white sneaker. Similarly, if you're a jeans-and-tee fella, polish it up with wingtips. There are also styles that fit the business casual bill by themselves, including desert boots, Chelsea boots, and certain types of loafers. Need more help getting business casual shoes down pat? Check out the selection below. Read More

If You're Criticizing Simone Biles, This Is the Company You Keep. Think About That.

After Simone Biles withdrew from the gymnastics team finals at the Tokyo Games to focus on her mental health, we saw the usual crowd attack Biles from the comfort of their phones. Critics either said that she should've pushed through it, couldn't handle the pressure, or grossly accused her of having a victim complex. Forget that Biles has done far more than most of us can hope to do for this country in five lifetimes—aside from her impossible achievements on the mat, Biles continues to put pressure on USA Gymnastics to find resolve for victims of Larry Nassar's sexual abuse. That's all in addition to Biles reminding people that gymnastics isn't golf, tennis, hoops, YouTubing, political pundit-ing, whatever your hobby is—because if you have a slip of mind in what she does for a living, you might leave with a broken neck. Those who thought they had something to say still said it anyway. Read More
