For our April/May 2024 cover, Robert Downey Jr. invited Esquire into his home for a rare sit-down. And, as writer Ryan D'Agostino assures, it didn't disappoint. "I didn't know it then," he writes, "but it was clear when I listened to the tape later that from that moment on, for the next five hours, this interview would be different. He would lead, and I would follow, and it would hardly clock as an interview at all but rather a sort of conversation. In fact, it would be unlike any conversation I had ever had in my life." |

I didn't rush into this review 24 hours after the iPhone 15 Pro launched in September 2023, but a lot of very loud people did that. A lot of people quickly shoehorned the model's upgrades into an Apple vs. Android superiority argument. I wanted to take my time. The tech and gaming crowd loves Android. But most Americans, myself included, will shell out for an iPhone. When the iPhone 15 Pro launched last September, the main marketing push was toward gaming—which Android devices have historically dominated. I went into testing it thinking, Is the iPhone 15 Pro the device that will make Apple the top dog in mobile gaming? |

Carmichael came out relatively late in life, by today's standards. "I was basically 30," he explains. He's 37 on Saturday, April 6—happy birthday, Jerrod!—or, as he says it: "In gay years, I'm 17. And I want to fuck a lot of people all the time." He lists his current turn-ons, at least one of which, sucking toes, we have seen on screen and can confirm. "People say 'try new experiences,'" he says with palpable frustration, "but then they also say 'you have a sex addiction.' So which is it?" This episode is going to be all about sex and monogamy, and although the word is never said out loud, it's going to be about how the closet can warp your feelings about those topics. It's also going to be about honesty, and it's going to be the one episode in this season that fundamentally feels the least honest to me. But we'll get there. |
