Most people these days might recognize mustachioed, jovial, tatted-up giant Matty Matheson from his role on the Emmy award-winning FX series The Bear. But Matheson isn't just some newfound celebrity chef—he's a cook first and foremost, a serious restaurateur whose rise to stardom has been slow and steady over the past twenty-four years. Long before The Bear, Matheson cut his culinary teeth in Toronto, where he started cooking in French kitchens in the early 2000s. He most notably helped open the (now-closed) hip haute-cuisine restaurant Parts & Labour, where he was executive chef. Today, Matheson runs his own mini-empire of restaurants in the region. And because we know Matheson as a man of good taste, we hit him up for some of his favorite restaurants in the Windy City when he's in town filming. |

If there's any watch that speaks to the universal desire to just get out there and explore, it's the GMT. Named for Greenwich Mean Time, the mechanical complication—which allows the wearer to track the time both at home and away—was born in the middle of the 20th century, when the uptick in air travel meant that folks were suddenly finding themselves in more time zones than they used to. Not surprisingly, the function was a smash hit with pilots; perhaps the most famous example, the Rolex GMT-Master, was adopted by Pan Am flight crews. These days, however, you needn't be in the cockpit to appreciate the utility of a GMT. You just need to have a little wanderlust and one of the 13 examples on this list. |

There's plenty to say about hotels in Paris these days. The city of lights, love, and luxury has a lot of newness on top of its already bustling hotel population. In anticipation of the Summer 2024 Olympics, it's no accident tons of new doors are opening. And, sure, this is the type of city where you spend your days perusing museums, designer shops, and restaurants—but where will you stay while doing so? Though you may not be spending 24/7 in your room, would it even feel like Paris if there weren't just a little bit of charm where you slept? While this list doesn't contain all the new hotels in Paris, these are the ones we personally stayed at—and would stay at again. |
