Investing in a watch is no simple matter. Investing in a Rolex? Well, that's even more complicated. From long wait lists and limited inventory to the sheer number of covetable timepieces The Crown produces, you might find yourself overwhelmed. We get it. Which is why we're presenting our shortlist of the six best Rolex watches to buy this year. Every single one is a good bet, with good looks aplenty and a whole lot of collector's appeal to boot. Whether you're just diving into the world of watches or looking to upgrade, this is the perfect place to start. – Jonathan Evans, style director Plus: |

From colorful Oyster Perpetuals to the new Land-Dweller.

Let's begin with the obvious qualifier. Although we think these are the best Rolex watches to buy right now, being able to do so might be trickier than reading about them. And not just because they cost a lot of money. Rolex watches are notoriously hard to find, because demand massively outstrips supply—and Rolex likes it that way. The Crown produces around a million units a year but carefully controls distribution so that authorized dealers receive limited allocations, often reserved for long-standing clients. If you can get in there now, models like the half-dozen below likely qualify as a good investment. And if we're wrong, at least that's something to explain to your partner as you max out the credit card.

We Called Robert Plant at Home in the Countryside, and He Told Us the Secret to Staying Inspired |
"It's a breezy day," says Robert Plant. "We're maybe getting ready to say farewell to the summer." As the seasons change, Plant is checking in from his home in rural Worcestershire, England, "a couple of miles from the banks of our beautiful River Severn that divides England from Wales." This location proved central to Plant's new album and band project, Saving Grace—much to his surprise, after his Grammy-winning 2007 collaboration with Allison Krauss, Raising Sand, led to a decade that saw him largely residing in the U.S. and dedicated to the Americana scene. The record is his 12th solo album following the demise of Led Zeppelin in 1980; it's been a full eight years since the most recent Plant release, 2017's Carry Fire, which was recorded with the Sensational Space Shifters—one in a series of backing bands he has worked with in the 21st century. His musical curiosity and creative spirit have steered him to multiple genres and continents, now unexpectedly leading right back to his rural hometown. |

Today was supposed to have been the premiere date of the new Apple TV+ series The Savant, starring Jessica Chastain as an undercover investigator who infiltrates domestic hate groups. Instead, Apple has postponed the show's release indefinitely, offered little explanation, compelled Chastain to speak out against the decision, and pleased exactly zero people except maybe one very online guy who has a 24-karat gold plaque from Tim Cook sitting on his gilded Oval Office mantel. Once again, Hollywood is running scared, which puts the public in the unfamiliar position of defending a piece of art, finding out that piece of art exists in the first place, and thinking, Wow, good for them, they got Jessica Chastain, in the exact same moment. |
