Here's a late New Year's resolution. Enjoy yourself more in 2025. Actually, that's too broad to be an actionable resolution. How about this: Enjoy shopping more in 2025. The in-depth way we shop at Esquire feels like a chore sometimes. It takes an ungodly number of hours to find the world's best down jackets, loafers, hoodies, insert products ad nauseam. If you want that, go for it. I'll continue to write in-depth shopping stories for you. But you know what I want, personally? Quick, lusty, maybe even a bit reckless shopping. The best way to do that? Sales. Right now, I'm eyeing the upcoming Presidents' Day sales. |

Let me give you the nitty-gritty on sales. Companies that make good products—especially ones that care enough to make good products in the U.S.A.—don't typically do sales. New Balance does good product. Its core line, all the 990's and Made in USA or Made in UK stock, is off-limits. These are high-quality shoes that can, and will, sell for retail. But New Balance can't control its retail partners. Right now, those retail partners—Ssense, Champs, Zappos, and others—are offering us unheard-of deals on New Balance sneakers. |
