The Best Movies of 2019 (So Far)

We're through the blockbuster-laden heart of the summer, which means that awards season is fast approaching. Fortunately for moviegoers, however, 2019 has already gifted us with a bounty of stellar offerings from the likes of Christian Petzold, David Robert Mitchell, Harmony Korine, Joanna Hogg and–most recently–Quentin Tarantino, whose Once Upon a Time in…Hollywood is the past month's standout release. There's still a lot more to look forward to in the near future, what with Martin Scorsese, Bong Joon-ho, Jennifer Kent, Ang Lee, Greta Gerwig, and Rian Johnson (among other acclaimed filmmakers) scheduled to deliver their newest features. But for now, these are our selections for the best of the year. Read More

Woody Harrelson Once Had to Escape a 'Brutal' Dinner With Donald Trump By Going Outside to Smoke Weed

It's really hard to imagine anyone possibly upsetting Woody Harrelson, the most supremely chill man in Hollywood. But, it turns out, Donald Trump happens to be unpleasant enough to do exactly that. Read More

21 Affordable Watches That Look Like a Million Bucks

A great watch doesn't have to cost as much as your rent. While there are definitely a lot of high-end options that are worth your time and attention, there's also a veritable smorgasbord of stylish, well-made watches that cost less than $300. The Anton Yelchin We Never Got to Know

The other holds a disposable camera which snaps a self-portrait in the reflection of a bathroom mirror. The resulting photo is dark and grainy and the tip of Yelchin's finger frames the bottom of the shot. Read More

Nike's New Joyride Sneakers Made Me Actually Like Running

On a beautiful day in Santa Monica, on a recent trip with Nike, I had a chance to change my love/hate relationship with running forever. Because, see, it's mostly hate. I just never saw running for the sake of running as anything more than a chore. Yeah, all those hard-core runners out there will tell you about how runner's high is the best drug, and how good you feel afterwards. But they'll also tell you that the first three or four miles are the worst—and three or four miles is about how much I run in a week. Read More

How to Make a Caipirinha

"A Brazilian Mojito." That's what you'll most often hear the Caipirinha described as. This drink is the national cocktail of Brazil, made with a purely Brazilian spirit, and yes, it resembles a Mojito. After slicing lime (carefully and purposefully; read detailed instructions on how to do it properly here, if you're interested) and muddling it with sugar, you add cachaça—a liquor that you'll most often hear called "Brazilian rum." More on cachaça in a second. Right now, what you need to know is that when you tire of the Mojito as your go-to summer drink, you'll want to turn here. A Caipirinha is light and refreshing, with just enough bite to get you through. Read More
