Leave it to Senator Ted Cruz to turn a discussion of children's books into a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad time. In yesterday's Senate confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, the judge fielded plenty of relevant questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee about her judicial record and how she thinks about the cases that come before her. She was also asked, by Senator Cruz: "Do you think babies… are racist?"
Summer will be here before you know it—and with these stylish outdoor furniture pieces, you'll be prepared for any hang, large or small. Since his breakout as Paco in Taylor Hackford's Blood In Blood Out, Benjamin Bratt has been a familiar and friendly face in cop shows, romantic comedies, and whatever Halle Berry's Catwoman was. He's twenty years and two kids into his marriage with model and actress Talisa Soto, whom he met at the Blood In Blood Out audition. And nearly thirty years after that movie, he's Parco, a charismatic gang leader in a war-torn Manhattan, on Ava Duvernay's DMZ, which is now airing on HBO Max. Esquire's Dave Holmes spoke with him about the challenges his family has faced, the commitment to kindness that's gotten them through, and how that kindness nearly cost him his latest project.
All it cost the congressman was his soul. The Utah legislature, however, is a case study in crushing it. Off and on in my life I've mistaken a good lay for love. Who hasn't? Even though they're all history now, I've never considered any of these guys to be "losers." Either they just had a long, long way to go and I couldn't wait, or the direction they wanted to travel wasn't on my map. My instincts always told me that each one would be different—an improvement over the last one. Besides, I've always liked men who were good with their hands.
