What is the new Top Gun movie like? A lot like the first Top Gun movie. And that is the highest compliment. Loud, brash, beautifully shot, and carrying a sense of timelessness–little to no CGI was used as in the original–the film is still a rite of passage story, except Maverick (Tom Cruise) is now a pilot in his fifties, so he's dealing more with how to become a true leader to a crew of pilots as well as a father figure to Rooster (Miles Teller), the son of his dead Wingman Goose (Anthony Edwards). Val Kilmer also makes a triumphant return to the big screen in his Iceman role. And you might cry when you see it. If you enjoyed the first, you will enjoy this one. Heck, you might even like Maverick, even if you're not into planes. We talked to director Joseph Kosinski about bringing back one of the most memorable 80's blockbusters.
