Todd Snyder and Timex's Greatest Hits Are Now Up to 70% Off

Oh, what a week it's been for watches. First there was the brouhaha around Joe Biden's Rolex. Then there was the (sort of) resolution to said brouhaha, on the same day, as it happens, that we witnessed a couple other noteworthy moments in timekeeping, courtesy of Omega on one hand and the one-two punch of Hublot and Takashi Murakami on the other. Lots of good stuff, but all of it hovering around the investment-level end of the price spectrum. A nice place to visit and have a look around, for sure, but sometimes you're only doing just that: looking. Not to worry. There's plenty more good watch news to be had, and this time around it's courtesy of Todd Snyder and his ongoing collaboration with Timex. Right now, Snyder is hosting one hell of a winter sale, and alongside all the fantastic outerwear and equally exceptional shirt options, there's a small stash of watches well worth your attention. Three of them—the Mod, the Maritime Sport, and the Welton—are verified greatest hits from the duo of brands, showing up in a handful of different iterations over the years. A couple more—Todd and Timex's Pride watch from 2020, and the Q Timex Falcon Eye—are one-offs, at least for now. But all of them would look pretty damn good on your wrist, especially with an additional 40 percent off the already discounted price when you use code SALE40 at checkout. Read More

On Kevin McCarthy's Pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of the Golden Commode

The FBI is still rounding up the people who occupied the Capitol for the purpose of overturning a presidential election. The trials are going to be in federal courts all over the country for years. More dreadful material is bound to come pouring out about the insurrection, and about the administration that welcomed it. And barely three weeks after the mob overwhelmed the Capitol, the Republican Party has decided that it can't win an an election without the mob, and without the president* who incited it. For all our political divisions, we thought we all still agreed that overthrowing the republic and submitting to the rule of Buffalo Head Guy and the Walmart Warlords would not be a satisfactory outcome. For all our political divisions, we thought that cop-killing was something that devalued your political relevance going forward. Clearly, this calls for further study. Here's Charles P. Pierce on Kevin McCarthy's place in it all. Read More

Wall Street Elites Tried to Fight Back Against the Reddit Masses. The Masses Aren't Having It.

There are few things in this life that can bring Congresspeople Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ted Cruz, Barstool Sports president Dave Portnoy, and Reddit day-trader bros together, but outrage against the Wall Street/Big Tech industrial complex is one of them. That unlikely alliance formed after stock trading platforms E-Trade, Robinhood, and TD Ameritrade announced they would no longer process trades for AMC Theaters, Blockbuster, GameStop, and a host of other stocks that have been targeted by r/WallStreetBets (WSB), a Reddit group for trading stock tips. Here's John McDermott on how what began as some bored Reddit bros trying to make a quick buck has turned into a sociopolitical debate about the nature of power and wealth, involving some of the most notable names in business, culture, media, and politics.
