In situations like this, I extend blame first to the editors. Somebody thought this was worth some of the country's toniest journalistic real estate. Other somebodies agreed. So a reporter was sent out to pursue this upper echelon wet dream. Now, the reporter could have ducked the assignment, but this is what she does for a living. She also could have come back and said that all her experience on the beat led her to conclude that there's no damn story here and, hey, it's almost Fashion Week in London. But, again, that would imply that a person with considerable expertise in the field was questioning the judgment of the editor who had this brilliant idea, and, my dear people, that simply... is...not...done. Feast your eyes upon this little number, about Casey DeSantis. |

But there are a ton of great options of those here, too. |

Ready yourselves: The Idol has officially begun. Last night, the first episode of the series debuted on HBO, after receiving a wave of shaky pre-premiere reviews (to say the least). The series, per its logline, comes from "the dark and twisted minds" of Euphoria's Sam Levinson and The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye). It stars Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, a vulnerable pop star who is trying to fix her image after a mental breakdown. Now that The Idol is here, there's even more to talk about—from surprise celebrity cameos, to BLACKPINK star Jeannie's iconic dance break, Tedros's (Tesfaye's character) haircut, and the episode's strange ending. Here's what social media had to say about the premiere—running the gamut from "i cannot believe this monstrosity is replacing Succession Sunday" to "I'm officially hooked." |

The only network that has somehow figured out how to make TV good no matter what's on screen. |
| Basketball, people. And lots more of it. |

The downside to being good at sports is that you think you know sports better than most people and that means you can gamble on it successfully. I was naive. I thought it was simple. Well, this team is better than that team, so obviously they'll cover the spread. But you quickly realize that's not true. The oddsmakers have the advantage. If there are 12 games in a day, they might be wrong on one or two. My first week I lost $5,000. I was devastated. I thought, I might have to go to jail, because this isn't gonna end well. My betting isn't done through an app with a casino or a gaming company. All my betting is done with local bookies, organized crime, but I don't want to get into that. If you don't pay it back, well... It's a slippery slope. You can't win. You don't win. |
