Hey Joe, Maybe Don't Bring Up 'Cocaine Junkies' Here

This is incredibly cringe. You can sort of see what Joe Biden is trying to do here, suggesting that the question he was just asked is equivalent to "when did you stop beating your wife?" But the execution, and the reference to (someone?) being a cocaine junkie, is more than a little bizarre. Biden is also within his rights to mock Trump's continual bragging that he "aced" a cognitive test designed to detect dementia, but none of this quite works. It's a reminder that, from a Democratic field that started as a sprawling cast of candidates young and old, we ended up with an opponent for the Mad King who is himself past his prime. The Democratic presidential nominee reminds us both candidates have their issues, though the choice between them is an extremely easy one, says Politics Editor Jack Holmes. Read More

The 12 Best Dive Watches for Deep-Sea Adventures (or Just Wading in the Kiddie Pool)

One might quibble forever on what makes a great dive watch and how deep it should go, or how important a helium escape valve is when your most ambitious plunge is a belly flop off a diving board at your folks' pool. The reality is that any serious diver these days would not strap on a scuba tank without also strapping on the kind of digital dive computers—from the likes of Suunto or Cressi—that will convey a hundred more vital things about your dive than simply what time it is. Yet tellingly, many divers still take an analog diver watch with them strapped alongside. Because, you know, just sometimes, batteries run out. Here are 12 of the best right now. Why Vans Old-Skools Are Still the Ones to Beat (And Why You Should Buy Them Now)

There's a moment early on in every menswear enthusiast's life when he feels like he's settled on the rough draft of what he'll wear for the rest of his sad, miserable existence. This is it, man, our fresh-faced aficionado thinks to himself. I finally cracked it! The very first time Avidan Grossman experienced The Moment directly involved a pair of Vans OG Old Skool LXs, the only shoes he's ever worn for a full year straight and still one of the best damn sneakers on the market today. If you're looking to figure out how the hell you want to dress now—and going forward—you could do far worse than the canonical style the Van Doren brothers introduced to the West Coast skating scene in the late '70s. Here's why they've earned the right to serve as our latest Esquire Endorsement. Read More

The Definitive Guide to Wedding Dress Codes—Yes, Even Remote Ones

Somehow, someway, weddings are still happening, and though they might not look a whole lot like the ones you're used to going to, there are still a few fundamental features that've largely stayed the same. Primary among them: the dreaded dress code. If you've ever spent the better part of an afternoon puzzling over a meaningless mishmash of terms and trying to sus out what in the hell everyone else will be wearing to Brandy and Glenn's Western-themed wedding, you're not alone. So we rounded up a list of the most common dress codes you're apt to encounter this summer and then consulted with etiquette expert Myka Meier to break down what each one typically entails. You Will Use This Pan for 95% of Your Meals

You probably know how to cook by now. That's good. It's likely been a journey. You might not have started with the right skill set, or any knowledge of how to use ingredients, or the correct tools to do it well. Well, unfortunately, we couldn't be there to fix the first two problems, but we do have a sick trick for the last one. The folks over at Our Place—the brand, not my home—have a pan that's quite plainly everything you need from a pan. What that means is that the Always pan is literally a pan for always. It can do almost anything within reason for a pan, and look damn good, too. Here are three good reasons you should get one immediately. Read More
