I recently hopped on the phone with Marten Lodewijks, president of the International Wine and Spirits Review, and he told me an interesting stat: about 70 percent of people who drink nonalcoholic drinks also drink alcoholic drinks. So if you’re a beer nerd like me, and you see nonalcoholic beer on the shelf, don’t shrug it off; embrace it. It’s being made for us. Not sure where to start? Where the hell did all this nonalcoholic beer come from? It feels like just yesterday we were stuck between an O’Doul’s and a hard place. Now, at any beer distributor or liquor store or even Whole Foods, beer drinkers are met with a plethora of sober-curious options. And it’s not like breweries like Athletic or Best Day or BERO are keeping it basic, either. Nowadays, there are NA lagers, pilsners, IPAs, stouts, shandies, kölsches, and, yes, even pumpkin beers that offer both the nondrinkers and the beer faithful something to sip on.
If you’re like us, the options overwhelm before they excite. So we here at Esquire decided to taste a heck of a lot of nonalcoholic beers to narrow down this widening field into a handful of must-try brews. After gulping down dozens of options over the last few months—yes, sometimes at the office—we came up with the following list below.

A miracle happened in MobLand, UK last Thursday. Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren participated in a three-way hug at the world premiere for MobLand season 2, with the veteran actors embracing Hardy like disappointed parents who just found out their son’s true passion is doing impressions of Batman villains while reciting Shakespeare.
Earlier this summer, reports of Hardy’s off-screen feuds with the Paramount+ drama’s stars and producers stated he had been fired, never to feel the sands of MobLand’s beaches in his toes again. But Paramount later confirmed that the rumors were false. All three stars will return for seasons 2 and 3. If there’s any bad blood left between Hardy, Brosnan, and Mirren, it’ll be between their on-screen characters. Namely, how Conrad Harrigan (Brosnan) and his wife Maeve (Mirren) start off MobLand season 2 by murdering a bunch of Turkish drug dealers that they were supposed to meet on friendly terms. So, it’s up to family fixer Harry Da Souza (Hardy) to clean up their mess.
